Option 1: 5 days classroom and 1 day live operational experience, classroom based. Suitable for new investigators and surveillance operatives. £890.00 plus vat.
Option 2: 2 days contact time, classroom based. Suitable for the intermediate to experienced operative. £430.00 plus vat. (£230.00 plus vat when taken in combination with the Level 3 Award for Open Source Intelligence Gathering.)
Option 3: Distance learning only with attendance required for the Unit 1 and 2 examinations. Suitable for the intermediate to experienced operative. £430.00 plus vat. (£230.00 plus vat when taken in combination with the Level 3 Award for Open Source Intelligence Gathering.)
This award is also combined with the Level 3 Award for Covert Foot & Mobile Surveillance.
About this Qualification
The IQ Level 3 Award for Professional Investigators (QCF) is a Security Industry Authority endorsed qualification for individuals who wish to work in the investigation industry. The qualification will allow the individual to apply for a professional investigators license from the SIA.
The course focuses on:
- Gathering information in support of an investigation
- Law and legislation
- Case file studies of covert assignments spanning 20 years
- How to deal with false accusations relating to privacy laws
- An overview of surveillance operations
- Planning and reporting investigations
- Giving evidence in court
You will benefit from valuable contact time with a highly experienced investigator and case file studies of covert investigation assignments spanning 20 years. Not only will you learn how to utilise investigation techniques that make you competent and commercially viable, you will also gain invaluable insight into the reality of how surveillance and criminal investigation assignments are undertaken to a successful conclusion.

Learners must achieve 5 credits by successfully completing the two mandatory units:
- Unit 1: Principles of planning and reporting investigations
- Unit 2: Principles of gathering and using information for investigations
Assessment is by two multiple choice examinations both 45 minutes in duration plus a portfolio based on planning and preparing a surveillance operation.
5 days classroom based (Suitable for beginners new to covert surveillance and investigation).
2 days classroom based (Suitable for the intermediate to experienced operative).
This qualification is now offered with the Level 3 Covert Foot & Mobile Surveillance – 10 days (6 days classroom and practical, 1 day live operation, 3 days distance learning).
